In factor theorem how to take a common number in the question

x square+ 5x + 6

Open in App
Solution

x^2 + 5x + 6
Let the 2 numbers be m and n then,
mn = 6 and m+n = 5
So splitting the middle term
x^2 + 3x + 2x + 6
x(x+3) 2(x+3)
(x+3) (x+2)
So x = -3 or x= -2
The 2 roots are -3 and -2
