Question

In heterocysts of Cyanobacteria, PS I & PS II are present which absorb 700nm and 680 nm respectively. This implies that blue light is absorbed by the pigments. Then how is it possible that cyanobacteria and its heterocysts appear blue-green in colour? (my question is not about PS II being active & inactive, but about how is it possible for the organism to have a colour which it absorbs. Kindly answer it accordingly.) Thank you

Solution

its not about ps1 n2...the chlorophyll a and the phycobilins (blue, red, light blue) produces blue green color imparted by them.evn for plants..they look green cuz of chlorophyll...not cuz of wat they absorb
