In laboratory preparation of Methane from sodium acetate, why NaOH is not used instead of Soda Lime (NaOH & Cao) where CaO does not take part in the reaction ??

Dear Student,

In the preparation of methane Soda lime (NaOH and CaO) is used but during NaOH is act as reactant and CaO does not react during the reaction but still instead of using NaOH soda lime is used for preparation of the methane because soda lime is not deliquescent and does not attack glass.
