Question

In neuron many ions like K+,Cl-ion and many other are present (for transmission:action potential) in free from.but, why they are in the from of ion,why not in compound form?(as they are moving the electrostatic force should act on +,-ions and make them compounds)why ions then do exist?(in cell)

Solution

We take NaCl in our diet .This compound dissolves in water and dissociates in to its ions as Na+ and Cl-.There is a lot of water present in the living systems. When we mix water and salt out side Na+ ions and Cl- ions are sepaarated and mix with polar water. That is why some polar compounds remain in ionic state. We take more salts also in our diet for the functioning of nerves ,muscles etc.
