Plant breeding is the genetic improvement of the crop in order to create desired plant types that are better suited for cultivation, gives better yields and are disease resistant. Plant breeding is the technique which is used for the development of sugarcane plants which can give higher yield and thicker stem with high sugar content. Two plants with these desirable characters were crossed, to obtain the hybrid variety which contained both the characters.
