Solution

Absolute velocity of boatman is velocit of boatman +velocity of river. Just imagine a boat going at velocity v in stationary water, now the water starts moving with velocity u. So now the boat is still mobing with velocity v w.r.t. river but when someone will see the boat from ground they will see that the velocity of boat will be v + u ie the the absolute velocity of boat.
