Question

In sexual reproduction, offspring formed are not identical to the parents.

Open in App
Solution

  • Sexual reproduction involves two parents, thus it requires both male and female gametes, i.e. sperm and egg respectively.
  • The sperm and egg come together and fuse to form a single celled zygote and this process is called fertilisation. Zygote develops and forms the offspring.
  • The offspring have certain similarities with the father and certain similarities with the mother. But the offspring formed are not identical to the parents.
