Sexual reproduction involves two parents, thus it requires both male and female gametes, i.e. sperm and egg respectively.
The sperm and egg come together and fuse to form a single celled zygote and this process is called fertilisation. Zygote develops and forms the offspring.
The offspring have certain similarities with the father and certain similarities with the mother. But the offspring formed are not identical to the parents.
