Solution
The correct option is B Fragmentation Asexual reproduction
Asexual reproduction is the process of producing offspring from a single parent, without involving the fusion of gametes. Sporulation, fragmentation and binary fission are different types of asexual reproduction.
Sporulation
Sporulation is a mode of asexual reproduction that occurs in Amoeba during unfavorable conditions. Amoeba withdraws its pseudopodia and develops a tough wall around itself known as cyst . The process is called encystation. The encysted Amoeba divides by multiple fission to form pseudopodiospores. When favourable conditions return, the pseudopodiospores are released due to rupturing of the cyst and each of them give rise to new amoebae.
Fragmentation
In fragmentation, the body of the parent organism breaks into many fragments each, which later grows into new individuals. For example Spirogyra etc.
Binary fission
Binary fission is a method of asexual reproduction in which the nucleus elongates and divides into two followed by division of cytoplasm, giving rise to two daughter cells.
