The correct option is D decrease in the ionization of NH4OH
Here is the judgement. NH4Cl is strong electrolyte and hence it decomposes completely. While NH4OH is weak electrolyte so it decomposes partially. Thus due to presence of common ion NH+4 in NH4Cl, it supresses the ionisation of weak base NH4OH in order to decrease concentration of OH so that higher group cations will not precipitate. So, we add NH4Cl to decrease the ionization of NH4OH to prevent from precipitation of higher group elements.
