The correct options are
A If μ2>2, then angle of deviation is 45
B If μ2<2, then angle of deviation is 90


There will be two conditions possible for the given situation

For the first condition where total internal reflection will not take place,

μ2>2

From the figure,

Applying Snell’s law

μ1sini=μ2sinr

Hence,

2sin45=μ2sinr …… (1)

Similarly,

μ2sinr=μ3sine

μ2sinr=2sine …… (2)

From the equation (1) and (20

2sin45=2sine

sine=1e=90

Therefore the deviation will be 45

Now for the second condition that the total internal reflection will not take place

μ2<2

Hence for this condition, it can be seen from the figure

The deviation will be 90

The correct answer is option (A) and (B).
