When light passes through a medium of refractive index μ,

Path difference =(μ1)l

For a small element dx of medium, the path difference,

Δx=[(1+ax)1]dx=axdx

For the whole length,

Δx=l0axdx=al22

For minima at O,

Δx=(2n1)λ2

al22=(2n1)λ2

For minimum value of a, n=1.

al22=λ2

a=λl2

Hence, option (B) is correct.
