In the figure, Each cube has a volume of 1 cubic unit. Find the volume of the figure and the area of its base.

Step 1: Let’s count the number of cubes that are inside the rectangular prism.

Start with the bottom or base layer, There are 16 cubes in the bottom layer.

There are total of 4 layers in the rectangular prism.

Step 2: In order to find the volume of the rectangular prism,

V=16+16+16+16V=64

In order to find the base area of the rectangular prism, We can use the formula for the volume of a rectangular prism,

V=B·h64=B×4B=16

Final answer: The area of the base is 16 square units & the volume is 64 cubic units.
