The correct option is C 13.6 N
Considering 2 kg and 3 kg masses as a system, we have from the FBDs as


f1=μ1(2g)=0.3×20=6 N
and, f2=μ2(3g)=0.2×30=6 N
Also, equation of force can be written as
5gT1=5a..........(i)
T1(f1+f2)=5a......(ii)
Thus, from eq (i) and (ii) we get
5g(f1+f2)=10a
a=50(6+6)10=3810=3.8 m/s2

Now, from the FBD of 2 kg mass we get


Tf1=2a
T=f1+2a=6+2(3.8)
T=13.6 N
