In the figure the arrow head segments are parallel. Find the value of $x+y.$

Given : $AB||CD,\angle A={59}^{\circ },\angle B={60}^{\circ }$

To find : Value of $x+y$.

Solution :

since $AB||CD$,

taking $BC$ as transversal,

$x={60}^{\circ }$ (corresponding angles)

now taking $AC$ as transversal,

$y={59}^{\circ }$ (alternate interior angles)

So,

$x+y={60}^{\circ }+{59}^{\circ }={119}^{\circ }$
