1. The Civil Disobedience Movement was gaining pace in different parts of the country. The success of the movement was a cause of tension for the British. The British thus resorted to brutal force to suppress the movement. Abdul Ghaffar Khan, a was arrested in April 1930. Mahatma Gandhi himself was arrested. Peaceful satyagrahis were attacked, women and children were beaten, and about 100,000 people were arrested.
