People who are not residents of Jam-mu and Kashmir are not allowed to buy Lands in there because ,it is there from the times of the Dogra Maharajah and the Britishers; this law is more than 100 years old, it is a Dogra era law. When the Dogras bought the territory from the Britishers back in 1846 by The Treaty of Amritsar, they had this law introduced which prohibited the outsiders (people not belonging to the state of Jammu and Kashmir) from buying any land in the state.
