An individual is as important as a society in encouraging to doing
things that promote sustainable use of the natural resources. If we
change our lifestyle and make it more suited to blend with the concept
of sustainable development, then our contribution towards conserving the
natural resources of the earth would be immense. Each person would have
to change his or her lifestyle so that the natural resources can be
equitably distributed, sustained and conserved for generations. For
example, if an office starts using reverse side of the printed paper for
drafts, etc. then it can save huge amount of paper. If a person would
not waste food and eat only what is needed then you can guess how
much, food can be saved ion your neighbourhood. And if you consider this
for the whole country, or for that matter the whole world, we can save a
lot and even provide food to the so many hungry and poor people around
us. Use of public transport by a person vis-a-vis a personal vehicle
would save the fuel and cause less pollution. Thus, willingness of the
people to change their perceptions of the socioeconomic and
environmental conditions around them and the readiness of each
individual to alter his or her present use of natural resources would be
of immense help in the sustainable use of natural resources.
