Colloid:

  • Colloid (colloidal solutions) is a mixture in which microscopically dispersed insoluble particles of one substance are suspended in another substance.
  • The size of the suspended particles in a colloid can range from 1to1000nanometres(10-9metres).
  • In colloids, the substance that is dispersed is knowns as the dispersed phase and the substance through which it is dispersed is called the continuous phase.

Is air a Colloid?

  1. Yes, the air is a colloid since it contains dust particles and water vapour.
  2. The size of the particles is 1nanometer to 1micrometer.
