Solution

Algae:

  1. Algae term includes a diverse and large group of photosynthetic eukaryotic organisms.
  2. Algae make their food through photosynthesis, during the process they also produce oxygen, transform nitrogen from the atmosphere, hold nutrients, and bind heavy metals - all these activities benefit the waterbody.
  3. Algae have high nutritional value, they are rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients.
  4. Some common algae like Chlorella, Spirogyra and Oedogonium used in foods all over the world for their nutritional content.
  5. Also, some algae species (like Ciguatera) produce toxins that can be poisonous to animals and humans.

So, some algae are good for humans while some are harmful.
