Question

Is Combustion Endothermic or Exothermic?

Open in App
Solution

Combustion is exothermic, Combustion means the reaction between the substances and Oxygen(O2).

  1. In a Combustion reaction heat is evolved.
  2. If the heat is produced in a reaction that reaction is called an Exothermic reaction.
  3. Combustion is an exothermic reaction.
  4. Energy is released in exothermic reactions.
  5. The formation of oxides takes place.
  6. Example of the combustion of carbon as shown C(s)+O2(g)CO2(g)+Heat
  7. In the above reaction, heat is released.

Hence, combustion is exothermic.
