Question

Is it possible to heat a liquid or gas from above?

Open in App
Solution

No, the liquid or gas is heated by convection in which heat is transferred upwards, neither downwards nor sideways. If we heat a liquid or gas from above then, only the molecules on the surface of the liquid or gas are getting heated up.
