Solution
Ligase:
The protein which helps in the metabolism and the chemical reaction in our body are known as enzymes.
Ligase is an enzyme that is used as the catalyst for the reaction of joining two large molecules by creating a new bond.
It joins the phosphate group of one strand and the deoxyribose group of another strand.
DNA-ligase plays an important role in DNA recombination, repair, and replication.
During the DNA replication, the ligase works on the Okazaki fragments that are present on the lagging strand.
It is also used in recombinant DNA cloning.
In recombinant DNA, the strands that are cut by restricted enzymes, sticky end, are ligated with the help of the ligase enzyme.
