Is mould the same as a fungus?

Open in App
Solution

Mould:

  1. It is a fungus whose thallus is composed of hyphae.
  2. It is a superficial, woolly growth that is found on damp and decaying organic matter.
  3. It is neither a bacteria nor a virus.

Protista:

  1. It is a group of unicellular eukaryotic organisms.
  2. Slime moulds are protists but moulds are multicellular fungi.

Mould is a fungus and not a protist (except slime moulds).
