Greenhouse gases are the gases responsible for the entrapment of heat in the earth's atmosphere.
They increase the rate of global warming.
O3 is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gases.
Ozone layer helps in the absorption of most of the toxic ultraviolet rays from the sun.
The ozone is found to be present on the top surface of the stratosphere, around 30 miles higher than the ground surface where it helps the earth.
Whereas around 12 miles higher above the troposphere (75-85% of earth's atmosphere, about 12-18km high), the ozone behaves as a greenhouse gas by trapping heat.
Similarly in the middle section of the troposphere, the ozone assists in cleaning up some pollutants.
Examples of other greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide and methane.
