Question

Is paramoecium a Holozoic?

Open in App
Solution

Holozoic nutrition:

  1. Paramecium is a microscopic eukaryotic(membrane-bound organelles and a well-defined nucleus) organism having cilia (hair-like appendages).
  2. They have a holozoic form of nutrition.
  3. It is heterotrophic nutrition where the paramecium engulfs the other microscopic organisms from the environment.
  4. The cilia help in drawing the food-laden water into the paramecium which then heads to the cytosome (narrow aperture for entry of food particles).
  5. Hence, paramecium is a holozoic.
