Question

Is the thermometer of the temperature of the air (in shade) as the temperature of sand or water? what do you think is the reason for this? And why does the temperature have to be measured in the shade?

Solution

The temperature of air in shade measured by thermometer is less than the temperature in water and sand. This is due to the reason that sunlight does not fall directly at shady places making them colder than water and sand.
We should measure the temperature in the shade to avoid any error caused due to increase in temperature by direct sunlight.
