Question

Is time an intensive or an extensive property?

Open in App
Solution

Extensive properties are proportional to the amount of matter in the system. E.g. mass, volume, etc. Intensive properties do not depend on the size of the system, nor the amount present in the system. E.g. density.

Therefore it is evident that time is an intensive property as it is independent of the system size.
