Open in App
Solution

Vinegar itself cannot be referred to as a solute. Furthermore, vinegar is a combination of acetic acid and water. In this example, acetic acid is the solute, and water is the solvent.

Acid: The main definition of an acid is a molecule that can donate H+ ions and remains energetically favorable even after losing H+, Acidic substances are usually distinguished by their sour taste.

  1. Blue litmus paper turns red when it comes in contact with acid.
  2. Acids tend to rust.
  3. They are effective electrical conductors.
  4. Their pH level never exceeds 7.
  5. These chemicals react with metals to form hydrogen gas.

Solute: A solute is a substance that dissolves in a solution.

  1. Salt and water are two excellent examples of solutes in daily life.
  2. Since salt dissolves in water, it acts as a solute.

Hence, vinegar is an acid.
