It is estimated that in winter there is a 20% chance that a person buys an A.C. and there is a 40% chance that a person will buy a heater in the summer. Using a simulator that generates random two digit numbers using the digits 0 through 9, estimate the probability that a person will buy both AC and heater during the summer.
Note: The ones place of a two-digit number and 1 through 4 represents a heater brought in summer.
The tens place of the two-digit number and 1 and 2 represents an A.C. brought in winter.

The ones place of a two-digit number represents people buying heaters in summer.

The tens place of the two-digit number represents people buying A.C. in winter or not.
Since there is a 20% chance of a person buying A.C. in winter, let 1 and 2 represent the person buying A.C. in winter.
Therefore 3 through 9 and 0 represents a person buying A.C. in summer.

From the simulation we see that 17 out of 50 people purchase A.C. and heaters in summer.

Estimated probability =1750×100=34%
