Question

It is possible to exert a force which does work on a body without clinging its kinetic energy? If so, give example.

Open in App
Solution

Yes. If the force exerted on the body does no result in a sustained movement, you may say
that the force has done a work but not changed kinetic energy. Examples:
1. Compressing on expanding a spring
2. Moving an object from a place to another place by applying some force.
Needless to mention, if a force acting on a body changes velocity of the object, it changes it's kinetic energy.
