It is said that at any point for a positive charge electric field points outward and for negative charge electric field points outwardand for negative charge it is inward .But an electric field is electric field ,so can we say that it doesnt have its own direction but shows any one of the direction depending upon condition.

Electric field is the region around an electric charge(+ve or -ve) in which it exerts force on another charge. Being a region in space, It is a scalar quantity which does not have its direction. its direction depends on the charge. If positive charge it is outward and for negative charge, it is inward.
