If $m = 2$ , find the value of $3 m^{2} - 2 m - 7$ .

Solution

Given: $3 m^{2} - 2 m - 7$
$= 3 (2)^{2} - 2 (2) - 7$ [putting $m = 2$ ]
$= 3 \times 4 - 2 \times 2 - 7$
$= 12 - 4 - 7$
$= 12 - 11 = 1$
Thus, $3 m^{2} - 2 m - 7 = 1$ when $m = 2$
