Let Jacob’s age at the time of his marriage be equal to x years
Then his present age will be = x + 12 years
Now, x + 12 = 97 x 27 x = 12 x = 42
So, his daughter’s present age will be = 16 × (42 + 12) = 9 years
Therefore, five years ago his daughter was 9 - 5 = 4 years old
