Let Jacob’s age at the time of his marriage be equal to x years
Then his present age will be = x + 12 years
Now, x + 12 = $\frac{9}{7}$ x $\Rightarrow$ $\frac{2}{7}$ x = 12 $\Rightarrow$ x = 42
So, his daughter’s present age will be = $\frac{1}{6}$ $\times$ (42 + 12) = 9 years
Therefore, five years ago his daughter was 9 - 5 = 4 years old
