1) Two prominent leaders of Punjab Dr. Satyapal and Dr. Saifuddin kitchlew arrested on 13 April 1999. More than 10,000 people had gathered in Jallianwala Bagh at Amritsar to protest peacefully against the arrest of their leader.

The then British troops commander, ordered his men to shoot on the peaceful unarmed crowd without giving any warning.
4) The Jallianwala Bagh massacre horrified Indians Rabindranath Tagore renounced his knighthood in protest against this incident.
