KOH cannot be used to absorb the carbon dioxide in air. If it is used there are more chances of absorption of water from the atmosphere than of the carbon dioxide. This will cause an imbalance in the atmospheric contents. Also, KOH is tacky in air as it is hygroscopic in nature. It can only be used in protection of individual against the poisoning in case of emergency.
