Solution

Mouth:

  1. Location : The mouth is the beginning of the digestive system.
  2. Function : The digestive process starts in the mouth . salivary glands make saliva, a digestive juice, which moistens food so it moves more easily through your esophagus into stomach.

Salivary glands:

  1. Location : Salivary glands are located in the mouth. There are three pairs of large salivary glands. Parotid glands are found in front of and just below each ear. Submandibular glands are below the jaw.
  2. Function : Salivary glands play an important role in digestion because they make saliva. Saliva helps moisten food so we can swallow it more easily. It also has an enzyme called amylase that makes it easier for the stomach to break down starches in food.

esophagus:

  1. Location : This is a muscular tube that connects the pharynx, which is a part of an upper section of the gastrointestinal tract.
  2. Function : This is a muscular tube that connects the pharynx, which is a part of an upper section of the gastrointestinal tract.

Stomach:

  1. Location : The stomach is a muscular organ located on the left side of the upper abdomen. The stomach receives food from the esophagus.
  2. Function :The stomach produces enzymes (substances that create chemical reactions) and acids (digestive juices). This mix of enzymes and digestive juices breaks down food so it can pass to our small intestine

Liver:

  1. Location : The liver is located in the upper right-hand portion of the abdominal cavity, beneath the diaphragm, and on top of the stomach, right kidney, and intestines.
  2. Function : The liver produces and excretes bile. It is responsible to excrete cholesterol, bilirubin, drugs and hormones. Responsible for activating enzymes. It stores vitamins, minerals and glycogen.

Pancreas:

  1. Location : The pancreas is located in the abdomen.
  2. Function :The pancreas has two main functions: an exocrine function that helps in digestion and an endocrine function that regulates blood sugar.

Small intestine

  1. Location : The small intestine is coiled inside the lower abdominal cavity beneath the stomach.
  2. Function : It is the site of complete digestion in humans. It absorbs digested food completely. It secretes intestinal juice. It receives bile juice from the liver and pancreatic juice from the pancreas.

Large intestine

  1. Location : It surrounds the small intestine.
  2. Function :To reabsorption of water and mineral ions such as sodium and chloride. formation and temporary storage of feces.
