In the process of grafting, the plant whose stem is taken is known as a scion and the plant from which the root system is utilized is known as known as a stock and the plant from which the shoot is taken is called the scion.
Many vegetables, fruits and flowering plants like rose are propagated by grafting. This is a method of vegetative propagation and asexual reproduction.
