Question

Lactational amenorrhea is reliable upto how much time?

Open in App
Solution

  • Lactational amenorrhea is a natural contraceptive method based on the fact that ovulation and therefore the menstrual cycle do not occur during the period of intense lactation following parturition.
  • Therefore, as long as the mother breastfeeds the child fully, chances of conception are very less.
  • However, this method has been reported to be effective only up to a maximum period of six months following childbirth.
