α & β are the roots of the equation x2x+p

γ & δ are the roots of the equation x24x+q

Since, α,β,γ,δ are in G.P

Let α=a, β=ar, γ=ar2, δ=ar3

α+β=a+ar=1 [ Sum of the roots =1] ...(1)

γ+δ=ar2+ar3=r2(a+ar)=4 [ Sum of the roots =4] ...(2)

From (1) & (2), we get r2=4r=±2

Substituting r in (1), we get a=1,13

Now, αβ=p=a2r=2,29

and γδ=q=a2r5=32,329
