Solution

The correct option is A 2,32
α,β are the roots of x2x+p=0
α+β=1 ...(1)
and αβ=p ...(2)

γ,δ are the roots of x24x+q=0
γ+δ=4 ...(3)
and γδ=q ...(4)

α,β,γ,δ are in G.P.
Let r be the common ratio
So, β=αr,γ=αr2, δ=αr3 ...(5)

α+βγ+δ=14 ...(from 1 and 3)
α+αrαr2+αr3=14 ...(from 5)
1r2=14
r2=4
r=±2

Case(1) r=2
Using equation (1) and (5), we get
α=13
Again using equation (5), we get
β=23,γ=43,δ=83
p=αβ=29
and q=γδ=329

Case(2) r=2
Using equation (1) and (5), we get
α=1
Again using equation (5), we get
β=2,γ=4,δ=8
p=αβ=2
and q=γδ=32

So, the integral values of p and q are 2 and 32 respectively.
