Lina's age = 3×x=3x years

Algebraic expression of Lina's age is 3x.

3x+x=48
4x=48

To undo the multiplication we divide the both side of the equation by 4.
4x=48
4×x4=484
x=12

Paul's age is 12 years.

Lina's age =3x=3×12=36 years
