Question

Liquids mix more slowly than gases. Why?

Open in App
Solution

Liquids mix more slowly than gases because:

  • The inter-particle spaces between the particles of a liquid are less than the gases.
  • The force of attraction between the particles is more in liquids as compared to gases which is almost negligible.
  • The particles of liquid have less kinetic energy whereas the particles of gases are in continuous random motion and have high kinetic energy.
  • Due to this random motion, the particles of gases can freely move and mix more faster than the particles of liquid.
