  • He acts as a link between the municipal corporation and the state government.
  • He has to make sure that the decisions taken by the corporation are collective.
  • He makes sure that all the decisions taken by the corporation should be implemented right on time.
  • He also has the power to appoint the lower level employees.
  • He coordinates between the working of several departments like education, health, engineering and sanitation.
