List the points of difference between homogeneous and heterogeneous substances.
Difference between homogeneous and heterogeneous substances:
Homogeneous substances | Heterogeneous substances |
1. Any substance that exhibits uniformity in its composition and properties throughout its mass is known as a homogeneous substance. | 1. Any substance that does not exhibit uniformity in its composition and properties throughout its mass is known as a heterogeneous matter. |
2. Homogeneous matter can be further divided into two parts i.e., pure substances (consisting of only one type of particles) and homogeneous mixtures (consisting of two or more type of particles). | 2. Heterogeneous substances only consist of heterogeneous mixtures. |
3. Examples: Elements like Copper , Compounds like Water etc. | 3. Example: Muddy water, Sand and Iron nails combined together. |
