Solution

Dear student,

Here is your answer:
Plants are very important to us. They give us food and shelter. They are the most valuable natural resource. Changes in climate due to human interferences in nature, has led to loss of natural habitat of plants and animals. Most of the plant and animal species are either on the verger of extinction or are extinct. Apart from humans, natural disasters and deforestation play a major role which accelerate the process of extinction. Poaching of exotic plants and animals result in the sharp decline in their numbers. Conservationists have a major role to play in the protection of flora and fauna.
  • Various conservation methods are adopted by the government to protect the plant and animal life. National parks, wildlife sanctuaries and biosphere reserves are made to protect our natural wealth.
  • Awareness programs like social forestry and Vanamohatasava are used to encourage the participation of citizens.
  • School children are motivated, informed and educated about the importance of plants and animals.
  • Like other countries India too has passed laws against the trade and killing of birds and animals.
  • The wildlife protection act 1972 , aims to protect certain species of plants and animals.
  • An international convention CITES has been established that aims to protect roughly 5,000 species of animals and 28,000 species of plantss
