The Ganga dynasty encouraged religious architecture. A minister called, Chavundaraya, who served King Rachamalla built the world-famous Gommateshwara statue, at Shravanabelagola of Hassan district. Chavundaraya was a genius minister, poet and architect. The other kings of the dynasty also helped in building mutiple lakes for irrigation.
