Secondary lymphoid organs:

The secondary lymphoid organs are sites where the B and T lymphocytes encounter antigens and differentiate into effector cells. Spleen, tonsils, lymph nodes, and Peyer's patches are all examples of secondary lymphoid organs.

Role of lymph node in immune response:

$\bullet$ Lymph nodes are small nodule-like structures present along the entire length of the lymphatic vessels.

$\bullet$ These filter out the microbes present in the lymph and the tissue fluids.

$\bullet$ The lymphocytes present in the lymph nodes interact with these foreign microbes causing an immune response destroying them.
