Question

Maam what is the main difference between fragmentation and regeneration?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Shreya, in fragmentation, two different parts from a single parent gives rise to two new individuals and hence this is a mode of asexual reproduction. Whereas, in regeneration, an organism regrows the lost part in case there has been some damage to it. Thus, this is not a mode of asexual reproduction, but a process of healing.
