Madhav and Rama have feedback forms from 50 participants of a workshop in which participants have commented about different sessions. They want to know how the workshop was. What kind of data are they handling?
Qualitative data
Rama and Madhav are handling qualitative data. The comments or remarks that participants have given cannot be quantified, and hence it is called qualitative data. Statistics deals with the collection, organisation, analysis and interpretation of data. The data could either be qualitative or quantitative. Most of the times, decisions are based on the analysis and interpretation of quantitative data. However, the qualities like beauty, honesty, etc., cannot be measured in numbers and hence it is known as qualitative data.
